RE

INTENT

At Paston Ridings, our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is rooted in our vision of "Living for life in all its fullness," aligned with our mission to change lives, achieve excellence and foster whole-person growth. At Paston Ridings, we value learning as the foundation for life and community, and we see RE as a key part of building thoughtful, respectful and resilient learners. Through RE, pupils develop not only academically, but also emotionally and socially.

The curriculum is shaped around three guiding questions:

  • What makes us who we are?

  • How does adversity inspire courage and creative possibilities?

  • In an ever-changing world, how can the choices we make have an impact?

These questions guide exploration of themes like belief, values, forgiveness and ethical living. RE helps pupils understand themselves, connect with others and navigate the diverse world they live in.

IMPLEMENTATION

At Paston Ridings, RE is introduced through hands-on, story-based learning in the early years. Pupils explore artefacts, religious festivals and key narratives in ways that build curiosity and empathy. As they grow, pupils engage in more structured enquiries into religious and ethical questions, encouraging thoughtful discussion and critical thinking. We use local visits and speakers to bring real-world faith experiences into the classroom. Our teaching reflects the inclusive, supportive and aspirational ethos of the school.

IMPACT

The RE curriculum at Paston Ridings is designed to have a holistic and transformative impact on our students. By the end of their RE education, pupils will have developed a strong understanding of the world’s major religions, their beliefs and cultural significance. They will be confident, respectful learners who can articulate their own views and consider the perspectives of others.

RE supports their social, emotional and moral development, equipping them to contribute positively and responsibly to their community and beyond.
