Year 3 have had an amazing time this half term.
On our trip to Flag Fen the children stepped back in time to experience what life was like in the Stone Age. They had great fun throwing spears at a wooden deer, just like ancient hunters, and sitting around a fire in a real roundhouse, imagining stories from long ago. We also examined fascinating artifacts, learning how people lived thousands of years ago. Everyone got creative with prehistoric-style painting using smushed berries on rocks, made their own clay pots, and wove sticks to make simple crafts. It was a fantastic hands-on day full of learning, discovery, and excitement!
Year 3 have been enjoying their music lessons, where they’ve been learning all about ballads — songs that tell a story. The children explored how music and lyrics can share emotions and adventures, then had great fun singing together as a group. Their teamwork, enthusiasm, and lovely voices filled the room, making each song come to life!
In art, Year 3 have been learning new drawing techniques while creating beautiful pictures of Stonehenge. The children practiced stippling, cross-hatching, and hatching to add texture and shading to their artwork. They worked carefully to capture the famous stones’ shapes and shadows, producing some truly impressive and detailed pieces!
