This term in Reception, we have been exploring our Big Question: “What makes us who we are?”. As part of our inquiry, we have been learning about our families and that all families are unique and a community is a group of people that we belong to.
To enhance our learning, we looked at pictures of our families, made a self portrait in the style of Julian Opie, and we have started to discuss different cultures and celebrations such as Diwali.
In maths, we have been learning all about the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4. We have deepened our understanding by looking at their composition and that the numbers are made up of smaller parts.
In phonics, we have been focusing on our phonemes and have started orally blending and reading CVC words.
Our PSED lessons have focused on the colour monster and we have met ‘Confused’. We will continue to explore them in Autumn 2. It has been a rewarding and exciting start to our school year and we look forward to an adventurous time leading up to Christmas!
