Ancient Egyptians

This term, Year 4 have been looking at the theme of how we can leave a lasting legacy most prominently from the example of the Ancient Egyptians. A civilisation which was conquered by the Romans 2000 years ago, nevertheless has left a stark imprint on the landscape and our collective memory.

In English we have been writing non-chronological reports on the mummification process, as well as writing biographies about the most famous Pharaohs - Tutankhamun and Cleopatra. In Art, we have recreated Egyptian hand coiled pots and painted them in colours which would have had significance to Ancient Egyptian culture. And obviously in History, we have studied the construction of the Pyramids themselves, and made comparisons with other historical cultures - drawing analogues between the social structures of Ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire and Anglo-Saxon England.
