Paston Ridings School Memory Garden
As with many schools, our staff and children experience a lot of loss, whether it be through death, divorce, separation or a change of living circumstances through social care. At Paston Ridings we have created a safe, calm space of remembrance, allowing time for pupils and staff to reflect and grieve for family and friends no longer with us. Alternatively the garden can be used as a place where children and staff could go at difficult times in their lives.
The space we have chosen is an enclosed outdoor area within the school, allowing pupils to spend time in a safe environment, with indirect adult supervision.
The area has a remembrance well, bench, slate stumps for chalk messages and mushroom stools. The pupils and staff have worked hard creating signs, pictures and planting to make the garden an attractive and inviting space. In the future we will be adding a memory box, water feature, pebbles and paints for children to design.
We would like to thank Cross Keys Homes for their support with our project.
